I’ve felt drawn to roses recently — a quiet, personal pull that I can’t fully explain. Each sketch is a meditation on memory, love, and loss, a way to honor those who remain in our hearts in delicate, unfolding ways.
There is something in their fragility and resilience, in the way each petal unfolds with quiet grace, that mirrors the human experience — the balance of strength and vulnerability, the unfolding of life’s emotional layers.
This small pencil sketch is my first step into exploring roses as a subject. For me, drawing them is not just an exercise in observation but a gentle act of reflection. It is a way to sit with feelings that are tender and personal, to let them take form without force, and to honor the quiet spaces within ourselves where memory and emotion reside.
Roses have always held a subtle, intimate place in my life, carrying echoes of love and remembrance that I am only beginning to understand through this practice.
